-CSU East Bay has extended their Fall 2012 admissions application deadline for upper division transfer students to March 1, 2011. Please note that the filing period may close at any time based on the volume of applicants, so apply ASAP!
-If you plan to participate in the Concurrent Enrollment Program in Spring 2012, the deadline to submit the application to Tanya Ilarde is Friday, December 9th. You will need to attend an orientation on Tuesday, December 13th from 2-3 and Wednesday, December 14th from 4-5 in R105. The majority of your units must be at Merritt College in Spring 2012.

Panelists will include a former Merritt student athlete and Co-Founder of Triple Threat Academy, an Alameda County Deputy District Attorney, a Lead New Product Engineer at AT&T, a Judicial Advisor at San Francisco State University, and UC Berkeley Lecturer and hip-hop artist/filmmaker.

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTIONS

This workshop will provide a general overview of the financial aid process, different types of financial aid, including scholarship opportunities, for transfer students. We will show how students with 90 units of more CAN qualify for financial aid at a four-year, how financial aid is calculated as it relates to degree objective and cost of attendance. Learn from a financial aid officer at a four-year institution! This workshop is open to everyone!
Presented by: Marcus Duron, Brandman University Financial Aid Officer and Dr. Anne Chan, a Career Counselor who financed her entire education through scholarships.

About the Keynote Speaker: Dr. Carlos Muñoz, Jr. is a prominent political scientist, historian, journalist, and public intellectual. An educator, author, and activist, Muñoz is also a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Ethnic Studies,
University of
California,
Berkeley. Muñoz was the founding chair of the first Chicano Studies department in the nation in 1968 at the
California State University at
Los Angeles and the founding chair of the National Association of Chicana & Chicano Studies. He is the author of numerous pioneering works on the Mexican American political experience and on African American and Latino political coalitions, including “Youth, Identify, Power: The Chicano Movement,” which is in its 12
th printing. He is an acknowledged expert on the issues of ethnic and racial politics, multiculturalism and diversity, immigration, civil and human rights, and affirmative action. Muñoz earned his AA from
Los Angeles City College, his BA with honors in Political Science from California State University Los Angeles and his PhD in Government from
Claremont Graduate School.

If you are applying to UC campuses for Fall 2009, you may be eligible to apply for a Transfer Agreement Guarantee (TAG). UC Berkeley and UCLA do NOT offer TAG. TAGs generally need to be signed by Merritt's TAG Advisor, Tanya Ilarde.
If you are unable to schedule an appointment with Tanya by the deadline, all you need to do is to complete the form and submit to Tanya by the following deadlines:

CSUEB will only accept applications from fully admissible upper-division transfer students. Upper-division transfer applicants must have 60 transferrable semester units (90 transferable quarter units) and the “Golden Four” course requirements completed by the beginning of the term prior to their term of enrollment (e.g. Fall applicants must have these requirements completed by the end of the spring term.) Note: The "Golden Four" consists of Area A1, A2, A3 and B4 in the CSU GE Breadth pattern (orange sheet).

However, if you applied to a Winter session prior to July 6th, your campus may still accept you. The priority application filing period for Fall 2010 will be October 1-November 30, 2009. Students who applied for Winter Quarter 2010 on or before July 6 are not subject to the new policy and students who applied after July 6 who indicated one of the majors above will be fully reviewed for admission.
Students who submit applications for Winter Quarter 2010 or Spring Quarter 2010 after July 6 and indicate a major that is not on the list above will be notified that Cal State East Bay is unable to review their application for admission and the application fee will be refunded.
Students planning to apply to Cal State East Bay for Winter Quarter 2010 or Spring Quarter 2010 to pursue a major that is not on the list above are advised to attend a community college to complete all lower-division coursework required to become fully admissible to Cal State East Bay.
The next available term of entry for which students can apply is Summer Quarter 2010 or Fall Quarter 2010; however, this is subject to change.
